Dr. Jodi will use one or a combination of the following treatments when working with clients toward achieving ultimate health.
A healthy diet is the foundation of a healthy lifestyle. It is pertinent to use food as medicine and understand how our food choices affect all aspects of our health. My goal is to educate clients on how to use food as a simple and effective tool to heal and fuel their bodies. It is also important to be aware of what foods might be adding stress to the system. I understand that many people struggle with habits that are hard to change – patience, support and awareness are all part of understanding how to work with food.
I do not believe in DIE-ts, I believe in LIVE –ts. I work to make slow, progressive changes with people that they will incorporate into their lifestyles FOREVER. I believe strongly in the 80/20 rule when it comes to living and eating! If we eat healthy 80% of the time and indulge 20% of the time, we embody health, moderation and ultimate wellness! (this goes for the month, not the day!!!)
The use of botanical medicines, vitamins, mineral, enzymes, oils, and other natural substances to assist the body in healing. Herbal remedies and supplements are important in today’s busy lifestyle, to give us back what is depleted by stress. Herbal remedies are also useful for people with busy lifestyles who may not have the time for proper nutritional practice. Natural remedies provide therapeutic treatments with minimal or no side effects.
My favourite! Chinese medicine has been used for centuries as a healing tool. There is so much wisdom and philosophy in this ancient form of medicine. TCM connects the body and mind, and shows us that both need to be treated together to achieve balance. Acupuncture is also an incredible tool to increase circulation, decrease stress, and increase endorphins (feel good hormones). TCM and acupuncture is a wonderful and research based tool for the following: addictions, mental health, fertility and womens menstrual conditions – pcos, dysmennorhea, pms, and endometriosis
A major focus of my practice lies in counseling. I truly believe that we must look at the mind equal to the body. The mind is what guides our choices, our habits, and ultimately is what will lead to transformation and change. The mind is what creates stress or pleasure, judgement or self love, and resistance or surrender. The mind is the root or platform for wellness. Through non judgment, experience and an educated way of making connections for people, I provide a very safe way to explore and shift. We must move through our stress, fears, judgments, and anxieties to come to a place of whole hearted balance.
To me yoga was a natural and organic fit in my tool box! It is a philosophy that embodies everything I strive for, stand for and believe in. Yoga is considered to be the science of the mind – finally a philosophy that teaches you how to be gentle with yourself, slow down, live calmly, and embrace the moment. Yoga is so much more than a form of exercise – it is a way of life, which if used properly can change everything about your health. Research has shown that yoga, meditation and deep breathing has a profound effect on our nervous system. The philosophy also can teach us so much on how to live, act, and move in the world in a more meaningful way.
take care of your body, it’s the only place you have to live
